Creating Festive Food For Your Office Christmas Party

To greet your guests, why not provide a little greetings dish, such as smoked salmon blinis. This delicious before dinner snack is made of smoked salmon, rocket salad blinis (a small yeast pancake traditionally eaten with caviar) and a dressing.Simply, warm the blinis up, add the smoked salmon, the dressing which is made of sour cream or alternatively cream fraiche, Dijon mustard and dill; then add a sprig of dill and a lemon slice to squeeze over the top. This sophisticated dish only takes a few minutes to create, and can be combined with a glass of champagne.

Canapés are also very versatile and can be made with a number of different festive fillings. A Christmas canapé may not need to take a long time, as pre-made pastry can be used. Besides the pastry, you will need for the canapé, butter, chives and red pepper. Festive fillings that have been suggested by cuisine lovers include Avocado, prawns and fresh lemon juice; Feta cheese, coriander and the juice of lime and sausage and cranberry. If you really can’t decide upon a filling, why not try all of them – after all it’s Christmas!

Lastly, the real piece de résistance is without doubt the desert. A festive cheesecake will treat your guest’s sweet tooth. For a cheesecake which indulges the taste buds, opt for a chocolate and orange cheesecake. If you prefer a cheesecake that is a bit fruitier with an interesting twist to it, try a spicy cherry cheesecake, which combines the sweetness of vanilla, the deep fruity flavour of cherries and the spicy sweetness of cinnamon. This can be created with low fat yoghurt for those who are worried about their waistlines, after those delicious canapés.

My Healthy English Christmas Pudding – And Other Party Foods For Festive Feasting

Party time and the festive season is never a good time for going healthy but here are some fabulous eating ideas that might help you to over indulge on healthy party foods rather than processed junk.

My number one choice is a healthy festive pudding just like my Mum’s Christmas pudding recipe but much better! I would say that  because I created the recipe myself. It includes whole-meal bread crumbs, rolled oats, seeds and nuts, freshly squeezed juices, spices, bananas, raisins, natural yogurt (optional) and is laced with rum and beer.

The great thing about this pudding is that you don’t have to make it months ahead and leave it to mature. It is good right after cooking or you can make it a week or so before you plan to eat it. .

Rather than roasting potatoes in lard or meat fat, partly cook the potatoes then roast them in olive oil or rape seed oil. Lightly steam your vegetables so they retain the nutrition and are slightly crunchy to eat. I you are serving a gravy or sauce make it yourself using the juices from your roasting pan thickened with wholemeal flour and seasoned to your taste.

Stuffing offers a great opportunity to add some healthy nuts, seeds and fruits to your dish. So rather than using sausage meat, use wholemeal bread crumbs with chestnuts, dried fruits or crushed nuts and a range of chopped herbs

A really easy recipe is seed biscuits and they make a great base for serving delightful toppings on. Make a light pasty using olive oil, toasted sesame seed oil or hazelnut oil to rub into whole-meal flour. Then add roughly chopped sunflower and pumpkin seeds and pine kernels, seasoned with a little salt. Bind the dry ingredients together with mineral water. Roll the pastry out thin, cut into squares and cook on greased, grease-proof paper in a fairly hot oven until golden brown.

They are delicious, perfect for cocktail and finger food occasions. You can serve them with almost anything on top, such as smoked salmon, delectable cheeses or healthy raw vegetables such as cucumber or tomato circles, or just snack on them as they come with nothing on top.

Dips are always a favourite. Avocado dip is delicious and healthy. Serve it with vegetable sticks such as carrots celery and cucumbers and you have a really nutritious, colourful dish.

For that hangover try a berry smoothes with seasonal berries such as blackcurrants or blue berries depending on the time of year, or use frozen summer berries blended with freshly squeezed orange juice. If you can find some nice sweet and jucy oranges this is a delicious light drink.

I wish you many happy and healthy parties and I hope you try my party foods, especially my healthy English Christmas Pudding Recipe – get the recipe here: www.healthyweightlossways.com/healthy-festive-pudding-english-christmas-pudding-recipe

French recipe for international festival?

I need a French recipe. I don’t wanna do dessert unless you find a really good one that’s not just one thing. I wanna do somehing with chicken and mushroos. And it can’t have any alcohol. No wine, brandy, etc.

Try this recipe for French Country Chicken & Mushroom Sauce. The recipe does call for white wine, but you could substitute additional chicken stock or broth for the wine.
